Spicing up a Small Space

While we all may dream of living in a mansion, it’s probably not the case for most of us. Or perhaps you have a really tiny room in your mansion. Whatever the case may be, people tend to struggle with decorating smaller spaces. Here are my tips for decorating any small space.

Vertical space is your best friend

Bring the focus up the walls and to the ceiling to help elaborate on all the space there is to see. This means bringing your curtains to the ceiling, create a gallery wall that fills the entire wall space or mount shelves up along the wall space.

Use one large piece to ground the room

This may seem counterintuitive, however, one large piece is better than several tiny pieces. One large piece of furniture is much more appropriate than a room full of tiny ones.

Don’t be afraid of color

Since there’s not a lot of room to make a statement, create that effect with color. Bring in bold patterns and bright colors since, after all, the space isn’t large so it won’t overwhelm the eye.

Stylish Storage

Use bookshelves, baskets and trunks to store items while also looking beautiful and stylish. Take advantage of having the added storage space, but decorate it with beautiful pieces.

Don’t neglect the lighting

Lighting is often overlooked in rooms, but can really be your best friend when making a room come together. Really enhance the details by eliminating it. This could include a picture light over a stunning piece of art, a pair of table lamps flanking a large sofa or a really abstract overhead fixture.
