Red, Whitewashed and Blue!

Happy 4th of July! Since today is such a historical day, I thought I would talk about a historical design trend - whitewashing! We've done it FOREVER! It's beautiful, timeless and can completely change the look of a space. I've seen it used in mid-century modern, contemporary and, of course, traditional homes. Consider whitewashing the next time you're looking for that lighter look. Here are a few examples highlighting just how drop-dead-gorgeous whitewashing can look!

Brick

A great way to update that bright red look. Its charm reminds me of those beautiful, historical, southern homes.

Floors

Refresh your floors with a washed look! The more worn out, the better in my opinion.

Ceilings

No detail goes unnoticed and a whitewashed ceiling definitely gets noticed!

Details

Not feeling the color or finish on something? Whitewash it! Think beams, fireplaces and moldings!
