Easy Upgrades

Whether you're moving into a new house or have been living in yours for years, we all have things we wish were different in our home. It's not always easy to drop thousands of dollars in complete renovations and new furnishings. People always ask me what they can do to make impactful changes to their space without spending major amounts of money. Here are my suggestions.

1. Add Greenery

I am constantly inspired by nature, hence my love for the colors blue and green. Bringing the greenery inside can add color and life to a space. Put a large tree in a corner or several topiaries layered by the kitchen sink.

2. New Art

Choose art that speaks to you and makes you happy. Mix styles and create something unexpected. Art can truly portray your unique flair and aesthetic, all while adding color and style.

3. Stacked Books

We all have old books we can use. I love when I see books stacked as a side table or thrown in unexpected places.

4. Poufs & Stools

Adding a stool or pouf to the space will add extra seating and extra style. It gives a layered look without adding too much clutter.

5. Throw Pillows

This has got to be the, hands down, easiest way to upgrade your look. Consider spaces other than just your living room as well, such as bedrooms and breakfast nooks.

6. Lighting

If you've read any of my other blog posts, you've already heard me say this about one thousand times. Lighting will ALWAYS change the feel of a space. It's as easy as changing out one simple fixture.

7. Layered Rugs

Add a bright 5'x7' rug to your neutral sisal to add color and style. Since it's smaller, it's a lot less expensive and gives a polished look to your space.

8. Hardware

It can make as big of an impact as upgrading your lighting.

Accessorizing is a must for a home to look and feel complete. It's all about the details.

10. Paint

Consider painting areas other than the walls. Make an impactful change by painting the doors and windows or just the back of a bookshelf. It can be a simple Saturday project to make an eye-catching difference.
